Nothing beats a blah hair day like a top knot! It is the answer to most of life's hair problems. This easy updo hairstyle can make you look put together in a flash, perfect for when your hair is having a moment or you're running late. It is professional for the work day and transitions easily from day to evening for after-hours fun! Follow Celebrity Stylist Cindy Duplantis as she shows you the perfect top knot the quick and easy way!

 

  1. Start by creating a front section from the top of one ear to top of the other ear. This section should include your fringe area. Clip it away; you'll work with this later.
  2. Using your brush, gather the remaining hair from the back up to the top of your head. Tie off into a ponytail with a hair tie. 
  3. Spray with AG Hair Finishing Dry Wax, to smooth out any flyaways and give hold. Use a comb if needed to smooth down. Any gathering of loose hair that's been combed around the elastic can be hidden with the top knot after.
  4. Now take that front section and brush it back to the first ponytail, secure with an elastic around the first pony tail adding these two sections together so you can't tell they were two sections!
  5. Pull a little hair out of the fringe section if you want to create more volume and help hide any roots.
  6. Take the ponytail, add a small amount of the AG Hair Dry Wax and do a little back combing for volume.
  7. Slightly twist the ponytail and wrap around the elastic, securing with bobby pins at the base. The tighter you wrap the smaller your top knot will be; the looser you wrap, the larger the top knot.
