How to Care for Type 2 Wavy Hair

Curly hair ranges in texture, from barely there waves to tight coils. Different curl types need different care, depending on where they fall within the spectrum. If your hair is in the wavy range you'll need a bit lighter care than you would for a tighter curl.

Do you know where your texture falls on the curl meter?

Wavy hair chart

Wavy hair can be identified by bendable S-curves that tend to lay closer to the head. They range from barely-there bends to almost-curls, the difference being that the S-shape doesn’t form springs.

2a: barely-there waves that tend to fall flat at the root and lack volume.

2b: hair is straighter at the root with defined S-waves that start mid-length.

2c: well-defined S-waves that begin at the root and go all the way down the hair.

Styling Naturally Wavy Hair

Depending on the look you want to achieve, there are a lot of styling options. We are focusing on a natural wavy look, to keep your waves soft, touchable and frizz-free throughout the day. Look for lightweight options that keep your hair hydrated while adding volume.

When your hair is freshly washed and still damp, apply a lightweight leave-in conditioner which will help detangle, hydrate and fight frizz. Add in some light control to help define waves and add a bit of hold, without adding crunch or weight.
