We have all been there. You need a new hairdryer so you go to the salon to pick one out. You stand in front of the wall of 20+ dryers and we all ask the same question - what is the difference and which one is best? What does all of this info even mean? Luckily, you stumbled upon this article that can help!

There are so many different technologies that are manufactured into all these dryers. Ceramic, Tourmaline, Nano-Silver, Ionic,Titanium and Oxy Active Technology! PHEW! Let's get started.

The most common type of hairdryer has Ionic technology. The negative ions that are emitted by this dryer pulverize the positively charged water molecules without opening up the hair shafts, therefore keeping your hair soft and silky with minimal damage (we will talk about the non-negotiable heat protector in a minute). The result is a faster, smoother and sleeker dry. This type is best for almost all hair kind. The biggest drawback is that it is easy to over-dry hair. Ceramic dryers emit non-damaging infrared heat. This type of heat is quite a bit less damaging, but typically takes longer to dry. Tourmaline combines infrared heat and ions for the multi-benefit hero dryer! Nano-silver tech kills any bacteria and removes odors and Titanium adds extra shine. Another completely new tech is called Oxy Active and boasts the benefits of all things (and more) listed above: faster drying, shinier resulting, anti-bacterial having, scalp cleansing and elasticity increasing hair glory.

You have also seen that many dryers come with different attachments. Air concentrator nozzle or diffuser are the common attachments that come with. The nozzle helps to create airflow that is directed to the hair and in the direction you are going for. This helps create sleeker, smoother finishes. A diffuser creates a space for your curls to form into their perfect shape and keep the airflow uninterrupted.

Now - What about heat controls, speeds and something called a "cool shot"? The cool shot helps seal the hair's cuticle and set the style. you only need to use this function at the very end of your drying (whether it is the end of drying the single piece or the end of the whole head.

So what does this all mean for you? What hair dryer is right for you?
