We all want to wake up looking like a celebrity caught off guard by TMZ, but the reality is, waking up can be, well, not our prettiest moment of the day. What if you could make waking up a little less bleh and a lot more heckyeah!? There are ways to use sleepy time productively, as a time to nourish and rejuvenate so you wake up feeling refreshed, energized and radiant inside and out. Grab your slippers, your pj’s, and a cup of caffeine-free tea. Let’s get ready to tuck in!
Use an overnight hair treatment |

MATRIX Biolage 3 Butter Control Overnight Mask |
Get thick, coarse or unruly hair under control with this overnight mask. Shea, cupuacu and murumuru butters infuse strands with nourishment while you sleep for a tame mane in the a.m. While you’d expect the application to be thick and heavy, the mask soaks in for a no-residue feel and no product transfer to your pillow through the night. |
ALTERNA Caviar Anti-Aging Restructuring Bond Repair Leave-In Overnight Serum |
Is your hair damaged? Weak? Prone to breakage? Wake up with stronger hair than ever with this overnight treatment. This serum works while you sleep to repair weakened or lifted cuticles and restore strength. By sealing cuticles, hair stays healthier, moisture is retained and colour remains protected. |
PAUL MITCHELL Tea Tree Lavender Mint Overnight Moisture Therapy |
This pillow-safe treatment restores moisture and encourages sweet dreams with a mixture of soothing aromatherapy and essential oils. |
Use Your Natural Oils the Old-Fashioned Way |

While brushing your hair 100 strokes may be a fad of the past, brushing your hair before bed is still a good habit to keep. You don’t need to spend a lot of time counting to 100, but a good once-over your whole head will distribute the oils from your scalp to the ends of your hair to nourish throughout the night. Use a boar-bristle brush to gently massage your scalp and promote blood flow. Shop all hair brushes. |

Sleep on a Silk or Satin Pillowcase |

Reduce snags and friction for a smooth night sleep. Your hair and skin will thank you! Sleeping on silk or satin lets your skin breathe and creates fewer creases and wrinkles. Hair glides over the smooth surface to reduce breakage and lifted cuticles. Plus, it is kind to eyelashes. If you have lash extensions, you’ll likely notice less shedding with a smooth pillowcase. Sweet dreams are certainly made of this! |
Tie Loose Hair Up and Away |
![]() |
Loose hair can transfer oils to your skin, particularly on your forehead, which can lead to clogged pores and acne. While tying your hair back with a regular hair tie may be uncomfortable while sleeping and lead to pulling and damage, gathering hair into a smooth satin scrunchie will gently hold your hair without the hurt. |
Overnight Skin Care |

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but don’t go to bed with your makeup on! You’ve heard it all before but I’ll say it again. Leaving your make-up on while you sleep doesn’t allow your skin to breathe and clogs pores. And eye makeup left on overnight can lead to irritation. Taking off the day doesn't have to be a chore. Try the Makeup Eraser for removal without soap! This magic cloth whisks away makeup quickly with just water! Or try Cailyn Dissolv’it makeup remover which melts makeup for easy removal. Quick, easy and no scrubbing necessary. If you haven’t tried Dermalogica, I highly recommend heading into a Chatters Hair Salon to chat about this game-changing skin care. Because it is such a robust skin care system, it is best to talk with a pro in salon about which products are best suited to your needs. With several overnight treatments offered ranging from anti-aging to skin-clearing, there are options that will see you waking up radiantly. |
Overnight Hairstyles |
Wake up with your hair basically done. Get out the door faster with these overnight styles. For each style I used AG Hair Spray Gel on slightly damp hair. After waking in the morning I used Paul Mitchell Invisiblewear Boomerang Restyling Mist to revive and refresh. |
Scarf Waves |
![]() |
Depending on your hair texture, this technique may give you more or less curl than my results. My hair is very straight, so my results were more on the wavy side rather than curly. You'll need a scarf or bandana to wrap loosely around your head on top of your hair and tie. Then, from under the wrap, pull your hair up and around until all of you hair is tucked up and around. In the morning, untie the wrap and let your hair down. Loosen curls or waves with your fingers. |
Braid Curls |
![]() |
If you haven't tried braiding overnight, I highly recommend it! It keeps your hair comfortably out of your face and you wake up with wicked waves. Simply french braid your hair - it doesn't have to be pretty, just a quick easy braid, or two if you like. Let them out in the morning and you'll be left with lovely curls. |
Sock Curls |
![]() |
While socks work really great for these overnight curls, any strips of fabric will do. Taking your hair in sections, start at the bottom of a section in the middle of a sock. Roll the section up towards your scalp, and once you get to the top, tie the ends of the sock together. Repeat for the rest of your sections until all of your hair is tied up in socks. The smaller your sections, the tighter your curls will be. If you are looking for larger curls, make larger sections. |
I hope you have a beautiful night's sleep with these overnight hair and beauty rituals. Goodnight lovelies and sweet dreams! |
