Sustainability at Chatters – How We’re Doing Our Part!

Katherine Gayle April 26, 2022

It’s no secret that the beauty industry produces a lot of waste, which is why sustainability starts with sending less of that waste to landfills.

At Chatters, we identify how you (and we!) can do our part by giving the sustainable designation to products that are packaged in a minimum 50% recycled or bio-sourced materials or can be refilled or recycled for less landfill waste.

In addition, we’ve gone one step further to ensure our services are sustainable, too. On average, up to 178 pounds of salon waste, including hair, metals and hair-colour by-product, ends up in landfills and waterways each day. This is why we’ve partnered with Green Circle Salons to divert 95% of our salon waste from landfills (that’s right – 95%!!!). Book your sustainable hair service here!

Sustainability is a huge focus for not only us, but also for the brands we carry like Paul Mitchell. Not only are most Paul Mitchell’s products currently fully recyclable, but they have made a pledge to transition ALL of their packaging to PCR (Post Consumer-Recycled) packaging by 2025, and that is MAJOR! This will help reduce their fossil fuel use by 41% and save an estimated 773 metric tons of virgin plastic.

Some of our favourites from Paul Mitchell include the Paul Mitchell Clean Beauty Anti-Frizz Leave-In Treatment, the Paul Mitchell Clean Beauty Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner, and the Paul Mitchell Clean Beauty Everyday Leave-In Treatment.
