Spring & Summer Hair Trends 2021

Who’s ready for warmer weather, longer days and fresh hairstyles? The changing season has us thinking spring and summer hair trends 2021 – what’s fresh, what’s new and what’s trending!

Curtain Bangs & Colour

This combo shows off two big trends this season - the versatile curtain bang and fun fashion colours! Curtain bangs are the perfect face-frame for all face shapes and can pair with any hairstyle to make it pop! Add in a fun colour – anything goes! Temporary colours are simple to use and come with no strings attached. They rinse out easily after a few washes.

Get The Look

Step One: Wash hair using Celeb Luxury Viral Pastel Lavender Colorwash and Conditioner of your choice

Step Three: Apply Drybar Southern Belle Volume-Boosting Mousse to root area

Super Short Curls & Coils

 From barely-there hair to a-little-longer, cropped curls are super cool for the summer. How short you trim it is up to you!

Get The Look:

Step One: Wash hair using Verb Curl Shampoo and Conditioner

Step Two: Spritz Unite 7Seconds Detangler throughout hair

Step Three: Using your fingers, rake Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream throughout hair

Step Four: Refine any curls by adding product to your fingers and twisting the curls around to add definition

Step Five: Scrunch the hair using paper towel or an old t-shirt to remove excess moisture

Step Six: Add more moisture or hold as needed by scrunching the hair

Step Seven: Let hair air dry up to 80% before diffusing

Step Eight: Using the Drybar Buttercup Blow-Dryer, diffuse the hair using The Bouncer Diffuser attachment. Using medium air flow and heat, gently diffuse the hair in small sections to avoid breaking up the curls

Step Nine: Apply Alterna Caviar Anti-Frizz Dry Oil Mist to protect against humidity and add shine

Step Ten: Finish the look with accessories from Duplantis Hair Official to add an embellished flare

Exaggerated Parts and Effortless Waves

Easy, breezy waves are always in – this season they are more effortless than ever. Try creating them with a deep waver or triple barrel iron for a more rippled wave effect and pair with a deep side part. Voila! The look of the summer has been served.

Get The Look:

Step One: On dry hair, apply AG Hair Firewall heat protector spray

Step Two: Using a tail comb, create an exaggerated part in the desired area

Step Three: Using the Drybar Mixologist Interchangeable Styling Iron with the waver attachment, section hair into clean, 3-inch (7.5 cm) sections. Hold the tool horizontally, press to open the clamp and capture the top of the hair section between the barrels and clamp. Release clamp and hold in place for several seconds until desired definition is achieved. Open the clamp and move down the section. Repeat until the whole section is waved. For a deeper, more defined wave, keep the section clamped a few seconds longer

Step Four: For areas where you desire a more defined curl, use the curling iron or wand attachment

Step Five: To add texture, liberally spritz Design.ME Puff.ME Sea Salt Infinite Mist (so new it hasn't hit stores! It's one to watch for) throughout hair

Step Six: Emulsify a dime size amount of Alterna My Hair. My Canvas. Glow For It Universal Gloss into the palms of your hands and apply to hair from mid lengths to ends to add extra shine

Step Seven: Finish off your look with the Pink Ruffled Headband from Duplantis Hair Official

Refresh your look on day two using Virtue Refresh Dry Shampoo.

The Wet Look

Take a simple style from day-to-night easily with this sleek wet look. Extra points for colouring a money piece at the front to give it an extra pop!

Get The Look:

Step One: Spray Drybar Hot Toddy Heat Protectant Mist onto dry hair

Step Two: Using a tail comb, create exaggerated side part on desired side

Step Three: Apply Redken Guts 10 along the hairline from the part to the ear, starting with a 1” section

Step Four: Using finger tips, rub into your hair and ensure the hair is completely saturated

Step Five: Take another 1” section and repeat steps three and four until you’ve reached the back of your head

Step Six: Using fingertips and constantly raking back, use the Drybar Buttercup Blow-Dryer to dry Guts 10 creating that wet look

Step Seven: Straighten your hair from mid-lengths to ends using L’Oréal Professionnel Steampod 3.0 to add a sleek, glassy finish
